We have a free discount card for people who have no insurance for their medication, and we have thousands of them. Pass them out. They are good at LONGS and other drug stores, (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Costco, Safeway and others) And the company will give us a small amount every time a card is used. Pass them out and help others who don’t have medical insurance. Call us at 561-1837 if you want plenty to distribute. If you are a Bridges Grad and in a support group, we can pay a little for distribution. This is a fabulous card, people can keep it after they pick up their meds and use it again and they can save up to 50% on their meds, if they don’t have insurance. Free Wrap Training, Starts Tuesday, Nov.10 and continues for six Tuesdays, from 3:30---5 pm at Queen¹s Oupatient, Nuuanu and Vineyard. Linda Takai, Albert Smith, and Bud will conduct a six week Wellness Recovery Action Plan Training starting Tuesday, November 10 at Queen¹s Outpatient, Bottom floor, Nuuanu and Vineyard. The nationally recognized program will help you with controlling mental illness and creating a wellness guide for each person. It will be from 3-4:40 for the next six weeks. New Directors Wanted for Board of Directors |

United Self-Help wishes to announce that it is expanding its Board of Directors from seven members to thirteen in order to facilitate greater consumer participation in the policy making process and to increase Neighbor Island representation. We also hope that this will lead to increased services on the Neighbor Islands.
Resumés and Curriculum Vitae along with a brief campaign statement to be published in the July newsletter are due into the United Self-Help office by close of business June 26, 2009. Submissions will be accepted by either mail or e-mail.
Candidates will have a chance to speak to the membership at the Fourth Friday event on July 24, 2009. Statements will be published in the newsletter and on the web site. They will also be transmitted electronically to all interested parties.
Elections will be held on August 28, 2009 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the 4th Friday meeting at Waikiki Health Center Auditorium, 310 Paoakalani Ave. Ballots may be submitted by any consumer in person at the Waikiki Health Center Auditorium, or mailed to United Self-Help, 277 Ohua Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815. Ballots will be mailed out to consumers on August 23. To request a ballot, call United Self-Help at (808) 931-6444, or from the neighbor island 1-866-866-HELP. No ballots will be accepted by e-mail.
If we are lucky enough to have Neighbor Islanders elected to the Board then Board meetings will henceforth be held by either video-teleconference on computers or by tele-conference.
We encourage all to participate and ask you to help spread this news to all the consumers in the State of Hawaii. |
